Notice from the Webmaster

Despite all the time I have spent stumbling through the web, learning from sites that impress me and translating that into my own efforts which have emerged onto our web domains - I have yet to figure out what on earth a webmaster is?? Does he tame spiders? Anyway - if you want to blame anyone for the emergence of www.pennineteaandcoffee.co.uk onto the internet, then I suppose it should be me, Robert Cooper.

All of the work that I have produced has been self-taught - which is why it looks so amateurist! And the whole project has been carried out with free software from various locations. (AOL Press has been an inspiration as a WYSIWYG HTML editor). Other particular thanks go to www.javascriptsource.net (something like that), and the fabulous free scripts from www.bignosebird.com (a wealth of information).

Autumn 2005 and over the last six years how my little hobby has developed! While the online presence of Pennine which was founded by my father Kenneth nearly sixteen years ago and I joined ten years ago grows year on year - there was no way either of us could predict how significantly the internet would influence and lead a company that operated in a market dominated by sales representitives.

The online presence you find today is split basically into two halves, an information site which let's you know what we can supply and also a full e-commerce online store which lists our full product catalogue with pricing, pictures and secure online ordering. The online store attracts a broad range of both domestic customers and commercial regular customers who prefer to browse our products on an evening rather then order over the telephone during the day.

During the time our online presence existed we have gone from being unique in the industry to finding competition in a variety of different guises. The medium we pioneered in this industry is now a vehicle for a wide range of coffee related sites, this is however ideal for the consumer who can now choose from a wide range of equipment and origin coffee from many different specialists.

I hope you enjoy our online coffee experience, and hope you appreciate that as a small company we work hard to ensure customer satisfaction is our number one priority.

Our e-commerce site has been developed using the Shopfitter pay as you sell e-commerce system, a shop building program you enter your information into and it builds your store for you. With a range of themes to choose from this is an ideal system for diy e-commerce. The program is so universal that legacy content pages from the site (like this one!) are now being incorporated into the program to make it easier to control and update the content.
